Northern Portugal, known in portuguese as "Norte", is a region in Portugal between Galiza (Spain) and the north side of the portuguese Douro River.
This region has 1/4 of land and 1/3 of population of hole Portugal. It has a dense vegetation and profound historic and cultural wealth.
It's capital is the city of Porto and is a culturally varied region, thus historical rivalries between different neighbouring cities and towns are common, unlike other Portuguese regions where every city and town is culturally very similar.
Northern Portugal and Galiza form a Euroregion "Eixo-Atlântico" based on the common historical, cultural, linguistic and economic similarities.
